I f I'm not mistaken, I was 13 years old then when the 1995 Ipil Massacre happened. I felt that it was the end of my life and the lives of others.
It was mid-afternoon when me and my siblings were tasked by our parents to fetch water. Both of them that day were somewhere else's but definitely not in Ipil. While waiting for the containers to be filled up we heard a shot (that time I really dunno how to recognized the difference of a gun or firework shot) so I thought it was just simply a firework explosion or similar to that but I have this doubt that it was just April then so why other people would bother celebrate new year ahead.
Suddenly when one of our neighbors who have worked in the pueblo came rushing and started to freak out that ABU SAYYAF destroyed the heart of the town.Another woman running towards us with her shoes carried up. My eldest sister stated to cry and we all panicked knowing that our parents were not there to ease our fear.
we begun to packed up and leaving the house with nowhere to run to.
it was terribly horrible. I don't want to have that odd feeling again.
I saw burnt bodies and establishment hooked on an alarming fire.
but thanks to God all of the family members were safe.

I will be a high school freshman that time when school start in June.

I was with my father campaigning for Brenmar who run as a Mayor that time. When we are about to live at 12.30pm my uncle saw a big mushroom of smoke and we thought propably it was Metro Ipil since its the only big establishment that time. My other uncle contacted his office via an RDO and figured out from his secretary that Ipil was hit and the voice of the secretary is scared. We rush immediately to our house because my mom was there. we use the new road that was being develop that connects barandilla to veterans village but when we got to this place where people fetch water (I forgot the name of the place) we saw ABUSAYYyAF with full battle gear and we thought it was Military because of what they are wearing, but they're on slippers so you can tell surely that those are the morons/idiot ABUSAYYAF.

during the that incident my cousin was hit by a gun shot in the shoulder, and luckily my mom went home from our tailoring business before the massacre happened because my 3mons nephew is always crying.(angel in disguised)

we hear different kinds of gun fire that time that it is so horrible to imagine until now, my heart is beating too fast because we really dont know what will happen next.

but think God, all of us are safe except for my cousin that was hit by a gun shot, but she's okay now.
